We, the undersigned consumers, farmers, processors, retailers, suppliers, and Pennsylvania community members, stand in strong opposition to the federal hemp rider recently inserted into the appropriations bill.

This last-minute language-added without public hearing, stakeholder input, or economic analysis represents gross federal overreach into an industry that Pennsylvania has built responsibly from the ground up.

If enacted, this rider would:

• Devastate Pennsylvania’s family farmers

• Shut down hundreds of small businesses, processors, and manufacturers that total over a billion in PA revenue

• Eliminate safe, regulated cannabinoid products relied on by millions of adult consumers

• Push jobs, innovation, and tax revenue out of Pennsylvania

• Hand market control to the very industries seeking to eliminate hemp altogether
  
  

For seven years, Pennsylvania’s hemp community has operated with transparency, compliance, and partnership with state regulators. We support responsible regulation, age- gating, testing, labeling, and safety standards. But we oppose any federal action that destroys farms, kills small businesses, and removes access for responsible adult consumers.

We call on Pennsylvania’s elected oJicials state and federal to stand with us, defend our farms and small businesses, and support a state-led regulatory framework that protects both consumers and local economies.

This is not a partisan issue. It is a Pennsylvania issue.

We respectfully urge you to act immediately to oppose this harmful federal rider and protect the livelihoods and communities that depend on a fair, sensible pathway forward.
